Noise at work legislation is now becoming a serious consideration for employers and employees, especially as the First Action Level was decreased from 85dB to 80dB in February 2006 in Europe. It is therefore essential that employers take the necessary actions to protect their staff, and keep them within the stated sound level parameters as defined by state or local legislation. The use of industrial earplugs and earmuffs/ear defenders in certain situations is vital, especially if the noise level is going to be at a constant high level.
The construction industry is one such example where using industrial earplugs is important; a lot of building equipment and processes are very loud and workers need to take all precautions with their hearing. A lot of earplugs come in a set, complete with carrycase, filters and insertion tubes, such as the Alpine Worksafe set.
Other sectors that make use of industrial earplugs include the food and drink industry; because of the nature of the business, it is imperative that all workers who wear earplugs use ones that are a distinct colour to ensure they can easily be seen if accidentally dropped into food.
It is also possible to buy custom industrial earplugs; these are created to be unique to the shape of your specific ear and as such as are bespoke to each user. For further information on these, please see our range of Custom Fit by ProGuard.
